Following up on alerts regarding the draft Federal Law "On Amendments to Articles 8 and 13.2 of the Federal Law "Concerning the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Russian Federation"", we can now report that, as of 9 June 2022, the bill has been passed by the State Duma of the Russian Federation in the first reading.
It will be recalled that one of the main changes proposed by the bill is an increase in the minimum required salary (remuneration) payable to highly qualified specialists from 167,000 roubles per month to 750,000 roubles per quarter.
It is planned that the provisions of the bill would take effect from 1 September 2022. In order to become law, the bill has to undergo three readings in the State Duma.
