Second half of 2025: Entry application via ruID for visa-free travelers and disconnection of foreign citizens’ SIM cards that have not undergone biometric registration
We would like to remind you of the following upcoming events: (1) from 30 June 2025, foreign citizens entering the Russian Federation under a procedure that does not require a visa must fill out entry applications using the special “ruID” app, (2) from 1 July SIM cards belonging to foreign citizens that have not been re-registered with biometrics will cease to work.

Sim cards for foreigners will now require biometrics
As from 1 January 2025 foreign citizens will be required to submit biometric data to register a new sim card. Foreigners have until 1 July 2025 to re-register existing sim cards using biometrics (otherwise services through those cards will be suspended).

Entry of foreign citizens into Russia: collection of biometric data and application for entry
On 1 December 2024 an experiment will begin involving the collection of biometric data for the creation of digital profiles of foreign citizens, and from 30 June 2025 foreign citizens entering Russia without visa will be required to submit an application for entry into Russia.
